SORA proposes a lightweight academic credential verification layer for Bhutanese education and employment contexts. The project focuses on two related problems: verifying that an academic record is authentic, and making academic results easier to compare when institutions use different grading systems.
The prototype is designed as an SDK and web-facing verification flow. A relying party such as an employer, scholarship administrator, university admissions team, or government service could use SORA to request or verify a credential through Bhutan NDI-backed identity. The grade-conversion component standardizes different grading formats into a more comparable score, helping reduce ambiguity when evaluating local and foreign academic results.
The proposal’s public-service value is in lowering friction for credential checks while preserving trust in the credential source. Rather than relying on manual document inspection or informal confirmation, SORA aims to give institutions a reusable technical component for authenticating credentials and comparing academic outcomes more fairly.
