EduChain: Academic Certificate Platform

EduChain proposes a digital certificate infrastructure for Bhutanese academic institutions. The project focuses on making academic certificate issuance and verification more efficient, trustworthy, and accessible to both students and administrators.

The prototype includes separate student and administrator flows. Administrators can issue, manage, and bulk-generate academic certificates, while students can access and download their credentials. A public verification service allows third parties to check certificate validity, including PDF-based verification. Bhutan NDI is used for student sign-in, creating a stronger connection between the certificate holder and verified identity.

The public-service need is clear in education and employment contexts: institutions spend time producing and confirming documents, while employers and other relying parties need a way to know whether a certificate is authentic. EduChain aims to reduce manual verification and improve trust in academic records through a backend verification layer.

This proposal is relevant for schools, colleges, scholarship administrators, employers, and public agencies that rely on academic credentials for eligibility or decision-making.
