For generations, Indigenous communities in Sorong, Papua, have protected ancestral forests, mangroves, and coastal ecosystems rich in biodiversity. Today, climate change and environmental pressures threaten both nature and traditional ways of life. Our project empowers Indigenous youth, women, and customary leaders to strengthen territorial stewardship, preserve traditional ecological knowledge, monitor ecosystems, and develop community-led climate adaptation solutions. Funding will support training, participatory mapping, environmental education, and local conservation actions that build resilience while safeguarding Indigenous lands for future generations.
