Restoring Hope in Kenya's Hill Communities
In Homa Bay County, Kenya, four fragile hill ecosystems face a critical crisis. Deforestation, soil erosion, and climate change have devastated Asego, Gembe, Gwassi, and Lambwe Hills threatening food security and survival for thousands of families who depend on these landscapes.
Community Action for Health and Development (CAHED) is turning the tide through bold community action. We're mobilizing youth, women's groups, farmers, and local leaders to restore degraded ecosystems while building climate resilience.
Our approach combines proven nature-based solutions: indigenous tree planting, agroforestry, watershed protection, and climate-smart farming. Beyond restoration, we're preparing communities for climate shocks like drought and flooding through sustainable livelihood training and disaster preparedness.
