About Ruamāhanga Farm Foundation
Ruamāhanga Farm Foundation is a community oriented wetland and riparian forest restoration project started in 2021. Eight hectares of land near Martinborough have been fenced and stock excluded, with native plants eco-sourced from the Wairarapa introduced with the help of local volunteers and schools. The foundation delivers education activities for local schools and associated health walks for the wider community, while encouraging other landowners to adopt practices that restore wetlands along the Ruamāhanga river and extending to the Wairarapa Moana.
