The Upper Yellowstone is experiencing what ranchers, irrigators, and fisheries managers have all felt but couldn't fully explain: tributaries going dry before they reach the river, aquifers dropping year over year, late-season water disappearing when it's needed most. Montana DNRC's watershed study has now given us the data to understand why — and to identify exactly where the opportunity to reverse it lies. This gathering brings the people who work this land together with the practitioners and science that show what's possible when we manage for water at the soil level.
