My country Kenya's name originates from my indigenous Kikuyu community's word - kinyaa - meaning “mountain of whiteness”, referring to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya/Kirinyaga. It is just one of a handful of places globally along the Equator with permanent glacial cover. Therefore, Kenya is just one of 14 countries globally whose name is etymologically linked to water. Interestingly, Kenya's capital city - Nairobi - derives its name from the Maasai name - Enkare Nyrobi - meaning a place of cool waters and is just one of ten capital cities globally whose name is etymologically linked to water.
Maai Makwa {/màːéꜜ mækwæ/} means My Water in my indigenous Kikuyu langauge
Kihumo means origin in my indigenous Kikuyu language. Kihumo Village is located 3km from Ondiri Wetland
