Restoring Donelson Creek to Health

Donelson Creek in Franklin, Tennessee is struggling. Listed as "Impaired and Threatened Waters" by the Tennessee Department of Environmental and Conservation, this vital waterway needs our help to recover.

Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) is working to transform Donelson Creek through proven green infrastructure techniques. With support from Ma Earth Round 3, we'll stabilize eroding streambanks, remove invasive species, and plant native trees and shrubs that filter pollutants and provide wildlife habitat. We're also building rain gardens and pollinator habitats to naturally manage stormwater.

Here's what your support makes possible:

• Remove approximately 1 acre of invasive species
• Plant 100 native trees and shrubs
• Engage 50+ community volunteers in restoration work
• Educate students and families at the project's elementary school location

This project requires matching funds to complement a state grant that covers 60% of costs. Your contribution directly enables this critical 40% match. Together, we can remove Donelson Creek from the impaired waters list and transform it into a national "Clean Water Success Story”, benefiting wildlife, water quality, and our community for generations to come.
