Building a Stronger Motueka
Te Āwhina Marae has always been Motueka's heart—a gathering place where whānau support each other through celebration and hardship alike. But recent storms and floods have taught us a hard lesson: we need to be better prepared.
Our Vision
We're building a resilient community that can look after itself when emergencies strike. True resilience isn't built in a crisis—it's built through strong relationships, practical skills, local leadership, and a genuine commitment to supporting one another.
What Your Support Creates
Your contribution will establish the Te Āwhina Hapori Resilience Hub, featuring an emergency response container stocked with essential supplies and communications equipment. Equally important, we'll fund a Community Resilience Coordinator to organise volunteers, deliver training, and strengthen neighbourhood networks.
Long-Lasting Impact
This project brings together whānau, kaumātua, rangatahi, and community groups to develop solutions that actually work for Motueka. It protects our most vulnerable, strengthens the bonds between us, and ensures we can respond, recover, and thrive together.
When you support this project, you're investing in a community that's ready for whatever comes next.
