The Munansi Hives Project
Imagine thriving communities where beekeeping transforms lives while healing the environment. That's the mission of the Munansi Hives Project, a community-led initiative in Uganda combining sustainable beekeeping, biodiversity conservation, and youth empowerment.
We work alongside farmers, youth, women's groups, and local communities to protect wild bee populations by safely relocating colonies into modern KTB hives. Through hands-on training and mentorship, participants master beekeeping essentials—from hive management to harvesting honey and creating value-added products like beeswax candles.
The impact extends far beyond honey. Our approach strengthens food security by enhancing pollination services, boosts household incomes, and restores ecosystems through integrated food forests and regenerative farming practices. Young people gain climate leadership skills while communities build resilience against environmental challenges.
We engage diverse stakeholders—smallholder farmers, schools, women's savings groups, local leaders, and environmental organizations—through awareness campaigns and collaborative dialogues that champion nature-based solutions.
Our vision: Resilient communities where people and nature flourish together through sustainable livelihoods, environmental stewardship, and youth-driven climate action.
