Miti Alliance is a social enterprise focused on Environmental Education in public community schools, training and empowering students to build regenerative kitchen gardens and orchards for food security. We also established Miyawaki Forests to safeguard biodiversity in Central Kenya, at the foot of Mt. Kenya Forest, which is under threat of deforestation due to timber demand. Through these activities, we reach out to the community through the parents of children who attend the various schools. We have so far covered 265 schools since 2018 and reached over 100000 learners in 19 counties across Kenya. Through this project, we aim to reach 500 schools over the next 3 years by creating online learning tools and content that will support schools whilst simultaneously implementing regenerative gardens and Miyawaki forests. The Counties of focus are Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Muranga, and Laikipia County in Kenya. These counties host communities that focus primarily on farming, and much of their climate impact stems from those activities. Training children in schools during their formative years will enable them to embrace restorative and regenerative methods that mitigate climate change.
