Solar Energy to Power Forest Restoration in the Philippines
Every day, Masungi Georeserve Foundation rangers risk their lives restoring forests in one of the world's most dangerous places for environmental defenders. Armed with courage and determination, they're fighting back against climate crisis—battling typhoons and droughts that devastate Filipino communities.
The rangers' mission is ambitious: restore 2,000 hectares of degraded watershed land near Metro Manila through native tree planting, patrols, and legal protection against illegal logging and land clearing. But they're doing it in complete darkness, without reliable power.
The Challenge: Rangers cannot charge communication radios, preserve food, or complete reports in remote locations without electricity. This limits their safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
The Solution: Off-grid solar systems will transform three ranger stations, enabling rangers to:
By powering these frontline defenders with clean energy, we can amplify their impact and protect the vital ecosystems that sustain millions of Filipinos. These rangers are our climate heroes—let's give them the tools they deserve.
