permaculture is fairly a new concept here in Uganda and as such very few have yet learned about it and in the entire northern Uganda its only kitgum permaculture practitioner association are the only legal entity who can authoritatively talk about permaculture, so the setting up of a permaculture demonstration site (since there no permaculture that offers training in the whole country this shall be the first) shall greatly help in the trainings of the community so as to take permaculture as a way of life, for the few years we have been in existence with supports from donors we have been able to demonstrate how permaculture can help answer a lot of questions that has been brought by the traditional farming methods, we have been able to train a group of disable people in the community so that they can use the various garden types to help suit their farming needs and also the kind of disabilities they have, we were also able to set up kitchen gardens for over 117 grand mothers who didn’t have anyone to provide for them and the results was amazing and many people now have copied it in their homes and as a results in appreciation to the work done the community donated ten hectors of land to our organization so that we can set up demonstration sit to help as a learning Centre, it is upon this that we are applying for this grant to help us set up a sit with all the permaculture zones and help in spreading regenerative knowledge these shall greatly help youths, single mothers or even those who have studied but don’t have a carrier path, with tangible and hand on regenerative ways of farming , anywhere, on any size of land they can grow their own food, anywhere is a garden. The training Centre shall try to put clearly all the synergies in permaculture showing the interdependent there is in the cycle from land to animals, trees leading to abundance produce,
The synergies in the system shall play well to the sustainability plan of the project, the crops, animals and trees shall support each other should the crops not do well the animals shall be there like the trees too, in five years the project shall be self-sustaining since the money coming from pdcs and also from the crops grown, the animals kept and most especially from the fruit trees shall be able to run the project and we shall not be needing any external support.
