Green Planet Initiative: Advancing Climate Resilience Through Regenerative Restoration, Education, and Web3
Our Mission
Green Planet Ecosystem Conservation Network (GPECN) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reversing environmental degradation in northern Nigeria. We combat deforestation through reforestation, regenerative agriculture, and climate education programs that empower schools and local communities. Using advanced digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification tools, we ensure transparency while training Tree Ambassadors and distributing thousands of seedlings across the region.
The Crisis
Northern Nigeria faces catastrophic deforestation—losing 3.7% of forest annually, the highest rate in the world. Continuous tree removal for food, medicine, and fuel has triggered severe consequences: soil degradation, desertification, biodiversity loss, and extreme climate vulnerability. Communities face landslides, erosion, and rainfall unpredictability that threaten millions of livelihoods.
Our Approach
We restore degraded landscapes by planting native species and implementing agroforestry systems that enhance soil health and biodiversity. We partner with schools, communities, and government institutions to build environmental awareness while training farmers in sustainable practices. Notably, we're collaborating with the Federal College of Forestry to preserve Pterocarpus erinaceus (African Rosewood), an endangered species threatened by over-exploitation.
Your Impact
Every dollar raised plants more trees and reaches more communities in Plateau State and northern Nigeria. Together, we're building a climate-resilient future for the next generation.
