Restoring Hope in Uganda's Rwenzori Mountains
Deforestation is devastating communities in Uganda's Rwenzori Mountains. We're fighting back with food forests.
This tree planting project will take place in the west of Uganda, in the Rwenzori Mountains. In this area, due to poverty, massive deforestation is taking place, which leads to floods, landslides, and the depletion of fertile soils. Many families lose not only their crops and homes, but sometimes even their lives. That’s why we focus on creating food forests that provide nourishment, shade, and life. Through agroforestry projects with local farmers, we restore landscapes and strengthen sustainable communities. We plant native shade trees and fruits trees. We work with local people who collect seeds, grow seedlings in community tree nurseries and plant trees in the fields. Our aim is to scale up our tree planting projects in Uganda as there is a big need of trees. With this funding we can help more communities, expand our tree planting and secure the monitoring of the trees that will be planted.
Food forests for the future! Will you help plant them?
