This pollution crisis threatens aquatic ecosystems and poses serious health risks to the thousands of communities that depend on the river.
The problem didn't happen overnight. Years of indiscriminate dumping have transformed a vital water source into an environmental disaster. Fish populations are declining, water quality is deteriorating, and families living nearby face contamination in their drinking water.
