In partnership with the UNCCD G20 Global Land Initiative (G20 GLI), AJF successfully implemented a Community-Led Land Restoration Project in Bute Ward, Wajir County. This initiative directly aligns with the G20 GLI’s global ambition to prevent, halt and reverse land degradation, aiming to reduce degraded land by 50% by 2040.
Key Achievements (completed over six months):
1. Restored approximately 78,000 hectares of degraded rangelands.
This project highlights the power of indigenous knowledge + community stewardship in large-scale restoration. It serves as a model for integrating traditional pastoralist practices with modern restoration techniques, contributing to global goals under the UNCCD and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP 2026).Join us in healing the land and empowering its people. Together, we can turn degraded rangelands into thriving ecosystems that sustain generations of pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya.
Evidence and reviews live on the open ATProto network and can be inspected by anyone.
