Reciclando Dunas

Reciclando Dunas is a coastal dune restoration project in Sisal, Yucatán, carried out by students and professionals linked to the Sustainable Management of Coastal Zones program at UNAM. The organization focuses on the environmental restoration of critical coastal ecosystems in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, protecting and rehabilitating natural dune systems that serve as vital buffers against erosion and storm damage while supporting biodiversity. In addition, the project promotes community action and environmental education through workshops, participatory restoration activities, citizen science, and capacity-building programs with children, youth, and local stakeholders, strengthening the connection between coastal conservation and community well-being.
