Equilibrium Wayak A.C./Parque Madre Selva

Parque Madre Selva is a project to create a 50-hectare ecological reserve in the Mayan Jungle as biocultural heritage, driven by Equilibrium Wayak A.C., a nonprofit organization in Quintana Roo seeking strategic alliances to direct financial resources toward conservation and safeguarding genetic biodiversity. The organization operates a community cultural center, agroforestry nursery, urban garden area, and bee conservation activities. This environmental justice project addresses the zone with the greatest social and urban inequality in Cancun. The reserve responds to accelerated deforestation in the Yucatan Peninsula, where the region lost 285,580 hectares of jungle between 2019 and 2023, equivalent to 196 hectares daily.
