Bangs Circular

Bangs Circular is a local organization for sustainable beekeeping practices across eight communities surrounding Tiwai Island in the Eastern and Southern provinces of Sierra Leone. The Tiwai Honey Initiative by Bangs Circular is revitalizing bee populations on Tiwai Island and currently manages over 130 beehives, serving 3 of the island's 8 communities. The initiative trains over 1000 community members on sustainable beekeeping practices and has established 30 beehives to address the decline in the bee population and foster environmental conservation while empowering 3 local communities. The Tiwai Honey Project has planted 5,000 trees, including baji and silk-cotton trees on community lands, supporting habitat restoration and reducing pressure on forest resources while generating income for local communities through sustainable honey production.
