The Amazon Sacred Headwaters Alliance was founded by Amazonian Indigenous federations in partnership with civil society organizations and has grown to include 24 Indigenous organizations and three NGOs. The Alliance brings together Indigenous nations to protect and regenerate 86 million acres of forests for its communities. The organization works to combat forest loss from extractive industries while protecting the Amazon rainforest's critical role in generating atmospheric rivers and sequestering carbon to stabilize the global climate. Together, member organizations form the world's largest indigenous-led conservation initiative, working collectively to protect the Amazon.
